Estel Plana, MSc, is a Director of Biostatistics at RTI-HS. Ms. Plana is a graduate of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, where she obtained a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and a master's degree in Statistics. Ms. Plana has over 18 years of experience planning and conducting statistical analyses for epidemiological studies. Previously, she worked in the Center for Research in Environmental Epidemiology (CREAL) as main research statistician for the Occupational WP of the European Community Respiratory Health Survey (ECRHS). Ms. Plana also has experience in the pharmaceutical industry leading and coordinating a small team of statisticians and analysts. Specifically, she led the implementation of in-house databases analyses and contributed to planning, executing, and analyzing observational studies for different diseases and therapeutic areas. Her responsibilities have also included data management and analysis of large databases, including registries, medical claims, electronic medical records and nationally-administered surveys, and public use files. Ms. Plana is proficient in statistical inference and multivariable methods including linear regression, logistic regression, Poisson regression, propensity score methods, survival analysis and repeated-measures analyses. She is highly skilled in Stata and SAS programming, including SQL, MACRO, ODS, and several SAS statistical procedures.
