Kirk Midkiff, MPH, is a Senior Director of Project Management at RTI-HS. He has experience as a project director and manager for a variety of research studies, including trial designs and epidemiologic research conducted domestically and internationally. Mr. Midkiff has managed and contributed to the technical direction of multiyear, multisite, prospective, randomized controlled trials of new screening and treatment modalities in large population-based cohorts for the National Cancer Institute. He has a long-standing interest is cancer epidemiology. Since joining RTI HS in 2005, he has focused on safety studies evaluating disease natural history and incidence of and risk factors for rare adverse outcomes potentially associated with use of medications. These studies span the spectrum of active surveillance approaches for signal detection, such as case-series design, patient registries, and single and national multicenter retrospective database analyses with a data linkage component. Mr. Midkiff has managed research studies in a number of therapeutic areas, including oncology, cardiology, gynecology, urology, neurology, and respiratory disease.
Mr. Midkiff has considerable experience supervising large multidisciplinary teams involved in these complex study designs. He has broad experience developing study components while harmonizing the information received from multiple stakeholders. He has provided oversight for the development of various research pieces, including study protocols, statistical analysis plans, and study reports, and played a key role in dissemination of the research findings. Mr. Midkiff also has provided oversight for field research implementation and the development of field procedures manuals and technical user's guides. Mr. Midkiff has traveled extensively in order to coordinate and actively participate in national and international trainings and meetings, as well as for study initiation and auditing visits.
