Research Triangle Park, N.C. – RTI International, a nonprofit research institute, has been named a best place to work for disability inclusion by Disability:IN, a global business disability inclusion network. RTI earned a top score of 100 in the Disability Equality Index®, the world’s most comprehensive benchmarking tool that helps companies build a roadmap to achieve disability inclusion and equality.

“It’s an honor to earn a top score once again in the disability equality index. RTI is dedicated to providing a workplace environment where all staff can thrive and fulfill their potential,” said Bucky Fairfax, D.B.A., executive vice president, chief human resources officer. “Accessibility is fundamental to creating an inclusive workplace and is paramount to our culture and success.”

The 2024 index measured the following areas:

  • Culture & leadership
  • Enterprise-wide access
  • Employment practices (benefits, recruitment, employment, education, retention & advancement, accommodations)
  • Community engagement
  • Supplier diversity
  • Responsible procurement (non-weighted)

"On the 10th anniversary of the Disability Equality Index, we’re extremely proud of the 542 national and international companies that are taking a proactive role in leading progress towards disability inclusion, setting a benchmark for others to follow. Their dedication to fostering inclusive workplaces not only attracts top talent but also drives innovation and creates sustainable performance in today's global market. Together, we are creating a future where everyone can contribute and thrive,” said Jill Houghton, president and CEO of Disability:IN.

The index was launched in 2015 by Disability:IN and The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and is acknowledged today as the most robust disability inclusion assessment tool. This year, 542 corporations utilized the Disability Equality Index to benchmark their disability inclusion efforts.
